Glycolic acid is an Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA) derived from sugar cane. It is the smallest of all AHAs and easily penetrates the skin to help shed the uppermost layer of dead cells. It also promotes cell turnover, allowing healthier cells to move closer to the skin’s surface, improving skin texture. Fine lines appear diminished and skin takes on a brighter and more radiant tone with noticeable clarity and glow. Glycolic Acid also unclogs skin pores. The result is a fresher, rejuvenated complexion.
Because it penetrates the skin so rapidly, Glycolic Acid may occasionally irritate sensitive skin. A simple sensitivity test on a small skin surface — behind the ear or on the inner surface of the forearm — is a good precaution to take with first time users with a gradual increase in the frequency of use. Begin by applying the product every other day. Once skin has become accustomed to glycolic acid, products can be applied on a daily basis.
A slight tingling sensation that quickly subsides is quite normal and does not constitute a contraindication to product use. In the event of irritation (persistent redness, burning sensation), product use should be stopped and a doctor should be consulted. It is recommended that prior to sun exposure, sunscreen should be applied to the areas of skin treated with AHAs.

Introducing Natural Sunless Tanning Lotion
When renowned sunbather Jennifer Aniston confesses her skin is starting to show damage from the skin and is moving to sunless alternatives for maintaining a healthy glow to her skin, you know your clientele is not far to follow!
Which is why we are happy to introduce our natural based Sunless Tanning Lotion, a great addition to the Pravada Natural and Organic Private Label Skin Care product line. Just a few tips to remind your clients when using sunless tanning lotions:
Applying self tanning lotions take practice, but if you follow these suggestions and add a little patience, applying the self tanning lotion will be easier and sunless tans will be streak-free.
1. Exfoliate for a few days before application.
This is really the most important prep step for sunless tanning. Skin needs to be shed of its dead scaly layer of skin so the tanner isn’t trying to work its way through it. In the shower, a gentle body scrub such as Pravada’s Organic Shea Butter Scrub can help exfoliate dry and scaly areas including the knees and elbows.
2. Moisturize every day the week before application.
If not a week, at least a few days prior, body lotion should be applied liberally immediately after shower or bath. In order to get an even application, application should start at the same place. Many times certain areas of the body, knees and ankles for example, are much drier than other areas. These areas soak up the self tanner which leads to blotchy coloring. Keeping skin plumped up with moisture will help.
3. Do not apply the self tanner in your steamy bathroom.
The heat and moisture in the bathroom can cause skin to start to sweat and the self tanner can melt and drip which will cause streaks. Also, wait until body has cooled down after shower. Hot skin will have the same effect.
4. Take your time with application.
Self tanning lotions take a bit of time to dry. Start with one area of the body and work around without rushing. By moving slow and paying attention only to the area being working on, clients will get better results.
5. Dilute by half on the areas prone to dark spots.
Knees, ankles and elbows are usually first to show if not applied correctly. Mix half self tanner and half moisturizer for a more natural look on these areas.
6. Wash your hands multiple times during application
Latex gloves are another option. Use a damp triangle makeup sponge to apply to the backs of hands and top of feet. This will keep the self tanner off palms and right where it should go.
7. Wait 15 minutes to get dressed.
Avoid staining clothes and sheets by allowing lotion to dry.

Summer may be ending but the impacts on skin is lasting. Which is why Vitamin C based skin care products are an important component of any natural and organic private label skin care line that targets clients that spend significant time in the sun.
The cutting edge of skin care research shows that aging skin is the result of more than just years on the calendar. Exposure to environmental elements like sunlight, smoke, and air pollution causes photo-aging in skin. Not only does this lead to the formation of lines, wrinkles, and pigmentation – it can lead to more serious skin conditions, including skin cancer.
A comprehensive Vitamin C program, such as the Pravada Vitamin C Line can help prevent photo-aging and the onset of more serious skin conditions. Topical vitamin C has now been shown to provide up to eight times the skin’s natural protection from UV damage. While sunscreens are also an important part of the prevention process, although they cannot do it alone. Vitamin C protects your skin from the sun in ways that sunscreens can’t. When used together, Vitamin C and sunscreens provide almost complete photo-protection – preventing photo-aging, preventing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and promoting vibrant skin health.
Oxidative damage shows up on our faces in the form of sun spots, discoloration, wrinkles, sagging, and loss of elasticity and glow. We love it when we find new packaging options – but it is not every day that we find one that looks amazing, is available in lower quantities, is reasonably priced AND it is superior in quality. So we were thrilled when we discovered the beauty and benefits of Violettglass.

The concept of violet glass is not new; since the beginning of glass production (approx. 3,500 BC) violet or golden containers were used exclusively to preserve precious salves, oils, essences and alternative medicines. Today, thanks to science, we know that life (energy) is best preserved by Violet, which no other spectral range can compare. In 1851 Jakob Lorber’s (Graz, Austria. 1800-1864) edition “Healing Properties Of Sunlight” (Die Heilkraft des Sonnenlichtes) was published. In this volume he points out that violet glass is the ideal storage container for healing remedies and other substances that are sensitive to light.
In 1995, violet glass was introduced to the market for industrial use. Since that time several studies have been conducted to research and document it’s effectiveness. The results are remarkable:
1) a} The dark violet glass is an extremely effective filter from the most damaging rays of light which occur in the range of @ 420 to 750 nanometers, also known as the photosensitive range as well as the hard UV range. (According to the Fraunhofer Inst., Munich.) This has a twofold effect. The first being obvious; degradation is cut down by not exposing the contents to this spectral range. Amber glass is grossly deficient in comparison, as are other colored glasses.
b} The second effect comes about by the nature of our glass allowing a specific part of the violet/blue spectrum of light through as you can see when you look through one sidewall of a bottle at a bright light source. There is about 25% translucency in the 380-420 nm range, which, according to Dr. Jacob Jutz, stimulates biological substances. Bio-photon researcher Dr. Hugo Niggli, Eppendes, Switzerland, expressed himself similarly. Purely opaque glass would not allow this action to occur.
2) Dark violet glass is also a barrier to energy radiation from the product within the bottle flowing outward. No other glass compares in this respect either.
As a result products stay fresher, longer.

A brief article (albeit a scarcastic one!) highlighting the important role packaging techniques play in the successful consumer perception of any skin care product. Published with direct permission from one of our favourite writers and the modern day guru of marketing!
TELLLING A STORY ON THE LABEL
Here’s a $20 bottle of soap. Functionally identical to a $3 bottle, so what’s the $17 for?
Let’s assume the people buying it aren’t stupid. What are they paying $17 for? A story. A feeling. A souvenir of a shopping expedition or perhaps just a little bit of joy in the shower every morning. Let’s dissect:
1. The hang tag. It’s special because most soap doesn’t have a hang tag. Hang tags come on things that are a little more special than soap. And hang tags beg to be read. This one says a lot (and nothing, at the same time.) It reminds us that it doesn’t contain SLS. What’s SLS? Is it as bad as SLES?
2. This isn’t soap. It’s mineral botanic. Both words are meaningless, which means the purchaser can attach whatever feelings they choose to them. In this case, the marketer is hoping for old-time, genuine, down-to-earth and real.
3. It’s not made by a soap company. It’s made in a Dead Sea Laboratory. Laboratories, of course, are where scientists work, and the Dead Sea is biblical, spiritual and really salty. The company has a name (Ahava) that is onomatopoeic and reminds you of breathing. Breathe deep and find calm. [Even better, I'm told it means 'love' in Hebrew].
4. My favorite part is that it’s made from bamboo and pansy. At least a little. Bamboo because it’s fast growing and Asian and gentle and wood and grass at the same time. And pansy… well… pansy is for girls.
5. Two really good things here. First, it’s for very dry skin. This is brilliant. If your skin is dry, you don’t want to hear that it’s sort of dry, kind of dry, not as dry as that guy over there… No, you want to hear that it’s extremely dry, really dry, so dry it’s like sand. That kind of dry. This bottle understands how very dry your skin is, and it’s here to help. Also, it’s in French! I love that there’s the language of love and sophistication and diplomacy right here on the bottle. I can imagine that models for Chanel are using it on the Rive Gauche as we speak.
6. Did I mention the part about velvet? It took guts to take this packaging so over the top. It doesn’t match my worldview, but it might match yours. There’s not a lot of room for slightly-out-of-the-ordinary.
